DRACARYS AND THE RACE THAT STOPPED RANDWICK
“In well over 100 years of racing at Randwick no horse has ever run the 1300m distance faster than that achieved by Snitzel colt Dracarys this past Saturday, stopping the clock in 1:14.76, the first horse ever to break 1:15 for the distance.”

This mark in history really defines how special this horse is. Dracrays was originally purchased as a yearling at the 2016 Magic Millions for $1M by James Harron Bloodstock and is now owned by Brace Racing Pty Ltd.
“He (Dracarys) really caught my eye on the Gold Coast”, Harron explains. “He had the pedigree, terrific balance, great angles and a brilliant attitude. Importantly, for a big horse, he had everything in the right place.”

Dracarys, the Stakes winning son of Snitzel, was a new season sire for 2019, providing northern thoroughbred breeders with an outstanding opportunity to secure the services of the best value son of Snitzel standing in Queensland. Dracarys is out of the multiple stakes winning mare Nocturnelle (sire Elusive Quality) who is a daughter of Group Three VRC Breeder’s Stakes winner Dama de Noche (sire Snippets), and whose line includes greats Danehill, Buffering and Intergaze.
Dracarys was the 1300 metre track record holder for the 2017 Royal Randwick for the Group 3 Up and Coming Stakes which he won in impressive fashion with a great turn of foot. He has a career record of 7:2-1-0 and was retired from the track due to injury. As a result he became available to purchase and stand for the 2019 season very late, mid-way through August. He is QTIS registered giving Queensland breeders the ability to be eligible for Racing Queensland’s breeding incentives offered through QTIS and now QTISx.
Dracarys is an outstanding type with a lovely nature. He is a stallion who will put a stamp on his progeny like his sire and grandsire.
Dracarys is standing at Oakwood Farm, Haigslea with an experienced team under the management of Sheridan Victor.
